Corneal Thickness Calculator

RETURN TO RESOURCES LIST

Estimate Thickness

Use this tool to estimate if myopic patients have enough corneal thickness to proceed with laser vision correction. When corneal thickness is unknown, this calculator defaults to the average corneal thickness of 540 microns.

Free Pachymetry

If you do not have pachymetry or topography instruments, patients can be scheduled with one of our techs for a 30-minute pachymetry/topography visit. All we need from you is their refraction. Results will be sent to you without interpretation. This service is free of charge if patients proceed with surgery.

Treatment Zone

When referring to the tables below, note that our treatment zone is usually equal to or greater than scotopic pupil size.

CAUTION WITH THIN CORNEAS

Please note – Even if the calculator shows sufficient residual bed thickness for LASIK, corneas under 500 microns are thinner than average. Some surgeons believe corneal thickness less than 500 microns is an independent risk factor for ectasia. These patients have a high rate of conversion to PRK. If possible, they should be evaluated at one of our offices before the day of surgery.
