William Gruzensky, MD
Cataract and LASIK Surgeon, Corneal Specialist
Friendly, soft-spoken and dependable, Dr. Gruzensky is a good communicator who makes people feel comfortable and relaxed. Patients and doctors appreciate his experience and careful approach to care. Bill grew up in the open canyon lands outside Boulder, Colorado, where his father worked as a chemist. An avid outdoorsman, Bill climbed 16 of Colorado’s highest peaks while a teenager. Graduating from college with a major in chemistry, Bill went on to take medicine. After earning his medical degree, Dr. Gruzensky practiced several years in Alaska and Ethiopia. Going back to school, he took a residency in ophthalmology and completed specialty training in cornea and external eye disease. For 4 years, Dr. Gruzensky taught ophthalmology residents the skills of eye surgery at Johns Hopkins School of Medicine, one of the nation’s premier medical schools. An outdoor adventurer, Dr. Gruzensky enjoys skiing, backpacking, mountain climbing, dog sledding and flying. He and his wife Trish, a learning center teacher, have two daughters—Heidi and Michaela. Improving the human condition and quality of people’s lives defines Dr. Gruzensky’s commitment as a surgeon. “It is very rewarding to be able to treat a person who can’t see well and give them new eyesight.”
