Born in Yokohama, Japan to Japanese-American parents, Ron grew up on the island of Okinawa. He enjoys reading, traveling, fishing, golfing, snow skiing, and long-distance bicycling. Ron and his wife Kathy, a surgical nurse, reside in Olympia, Washington. They have a daughter, Christine.
