Oswald Rondón, MD
Cataract Surgeon, Glaucoma Specialist
Friendly, positive, and delightfully engaging, Dr. Rondón loves people and interacting with patients. An excellent communicator, he likes to answer questions and help those in his care understand the health of their eyes. Fascinated by the visual system’s intricate design, Dr. Rondón enjoys the microscopic precision of surgery. Born in Manhattan, Oswald grew up in New York until age 13. Then his family moved to the Dominican Republic for three years before returning to Florida. In college, Oswald majored in biology. Since childhood, he’d been interested in becoming a physician but wasn’t thrilled with the potential of long work hours away from family. Then Oswald met an eye surgeon at a school function. When he learned how much the doctor enjoyed his job, and that it didn’t involve a 100+ hour work week, he decided to pursue ophthalmology. After medical school and ophthalmology residency, Dr. Rondón went on to complete specialty training in glaucoma. Away from work, Dr. Rondón likes baseball and basketball, mountain biking, Bible study, and spending time with family. His wife, Betty, home schools their son, Amedeo, and daughter, Amadis. Dr. Rondón feels that God has led him into ophthalmology. “I get to positively impact people’s lives and help them see better.”
