Joyce Choe, MD, MPH
Cataract Surgeon, Glaucoma Specialist
Cheerful, energetic and enthusiastic, Dr. Choe (pronounced Cheh) connects easily with others. Although exacting and particular, she is quick to laugh at herself and see the lighter side. Originally from California, Joyce grew up in Wisconsin and Michigan where her father practiced as an anesthesiologist. She took piano lessons for years but was more interested in the medical focus that was familiar in her home. Graduating from university with a religion major due to her fascination with the mind-body connection, Joyce went on to earn her medical degree. Finishing a residency in ophthalmology, Dr. Choe then completed specialty training in glaucoma. While working with several private clinics, she served as a cataract surgeon and glaucoma specialist at the VA Hospital in Loma Linda, California for 7 years. Dr. Choe enjoys being outdoors, hiking, visiting other cultures, learning about healthy lifestyles and providing surgical care on medical missions. She resides in Vancouver, Washington. An advocate of healthy living, Dr. Choe likes helping people maximize their lives through optimal vision and lifestyle. “Eyes are windows that allow us to tell what’s happening in the rest of the body—to see things before patients even know they have a problem.”
