David Gano, MD
Cataract Surgeon
Outgoing, friendly and engaging, Dr. Gano has a charming sense of humor and is able to bond quickly with others. His careful precision, thoroughness and expertise is appreciated by colleagues as well as patients. David was born in Gainesville, Florida, where his father owned a real estate business. He grew up on their small farm helping with a big vegetable garden every summer, climbing trees and playing in the lime pits nearby. Graduating from college with a degree in chemistry, David continued his academic studies and obtained a masters degree in biochemistry. Then, he went on to earn his medical degree and complete a residency in ophthalmology. For 10 years, Dr. Gano practiced with Kaiser Permanente in Southern California, where he performed a considerable number of cataract surgeries before joining Pacific Cataract and Laser Institute. In addition to singing and playing guitar, Dr. Gano is an amateur juggler and likes to water ski, swim and scuba dive. He and his wife, Angela, a nurse, have two sons—Alexander and Donovan. A caring and dedicated team player, Dr. Gano enjoys explaining the intricacies of the eye and helping to restore vision. "It's all about doing a good job for those who trust me with their care."
