Curious, adventurous and lighthearted, Dr. Edgington easily connects with all types of people. He enjoys the technical aspects of surgery and making a difference in peoples’ lives by helping them see. Born in a suburb of Chicago, Illinois, Bryan grew up in Milwaukee, Wisconsin where his father worked as a chemist. Throughout his schooling, Bryan was active in sports and music—competitive swimming, rowing crew, band and symphony. Graduating university with a degree in biological sciences, Bryan joined the Peace Corps in the South Pacific where he taught school for two years. After earning his medical degree, Dr. Edgington completed an ophthalmology residency and went on to finish a corneal fellowship. For six years, he taught ophthalmology residents the skills of cataract, corneal and refractive surgery at The George Washington University School of Medicine in Washington, DC. Then he served as director of cornea service at the VA Medical Center in Portland Oregon and as associate professor of cornea service at Casey Eye Institute at Oregon Health and Science University. Dr. Edgington’s interests include skiing, snowshoeing, hiking, kayaking, canoeing, travel and exploring. He and his wife Tara, who has an MBA in international business, have a son—Anton. Fun, loyal and available for people in need, Dr. Edgington has volunteered his surgical skills across the globe. “What I’ve learned is that helping people see makes them smile in every country.”
